Met Eireann has issued a status yellow wind alert for Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal.
It is in effect from 8am until 8pm tonight.
The forecaster says very strong northwest winds will develop throughout the day with widespread gusts of 80 to 110 km/h expected, stronger in exposed areas.
