Fears expressed by Donegal Councillor that the North West could lose its allocation of new garda recruits to Dublin

Concern is being expressed locally that the recent riots witnessed in Dublin will lead to the majority of new garda recruits being deployed to the capital at the expense of areas such as the North West.

The concerns were aired at a recent JPC Meeting in Donegal.

The latest batch of Garda recruits are due to graduate from Templemore College later this month.

With guarantees being provided by the Taoiseach and Justice Minister that there will be a greater garda presence on the streets of Dublin it's expected that the majority of the new officers will be stationed in the inner city.
