Issues with illegal dumping were discussed at the March meeting of Leitrim County Council which took place in the Kinlough Community Centre.
The Cathaoirleach of the Local Authority, Justin Warnock says he is sickened to see the amount of dumping of household waste that is being flung along rural roads and lanes in Leitrim.
The Kinlough based Councillor says the County was promoted in a very positive light during the recent Leitrim GAA 50 mile challenge and he’s fearful that the positive reviews from that initiative will be damaged as a result of illegal dumping.
The Fianna Fail Councillor is looking to hold a brainstorming workshop with fellow elected members of the Local Authority, members of the PPN and staff from the Environment section of the council to develop a strategy in dealing with this horrendous issue:
