Local MEP warns of a difficult period ahead at Sligo University Hospital

A Sligo MEP has raised concerns over the current over-crowding at Sligo University Hospital.

 

Sinn Féin MEP Chris MacManus has issued a warning that the number of patients on trolleys is providing ample warning that a difficult period lies ahead for workers and patients at SUH

The former Sligo councillor says the Government has failed to deliver enough hospital capacity over the last three years and the decision to underfund the health service in the Budget this year and as a result this along with a staff recruitment freeze has left local hospitals without the beds they need .

The Midlands North West MEP has warned that planned appointments and surgeries may have to be cancelled in order to cope with surging winter demand.
