A North West based Sinn Fein TD has backed to the Party's strategy of running additional candidates in the local Elections despite a recent drop in support for the party.
Support for Sinn Féin is its lowest level in three years according to a new poll.
The latest Irish Times/Ipsos B&A poll has seen support for the party drop to 28pc, a six-point decrease from the previous poll in September.
However Sinn Féin still hold an eight-point lead over Fianna Fáil and a nine-point lead over Fine Gael.
Despite the drop in support Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says the party are in a good position to secure extra seats in the upcoming Council Elections.
