'An apple tart for the living, not flowers for the dead'

Ballymote resident, and Roscommon GAA stalwart, Paddy Joe Burke, recalled the words he heard from a priest at a recent sermon, reflecting on the death of his uncle. Lots of flowers were sent to the funeral but his uncle, he said, would have been better off getting apple tart and tea and people visiting him, while he was still alive
