The effects of the increase on fuel tax is expected to be most felt around the North West.
As was announced in the Budget, the increase on carbon tax will add around €1.50 to a fill of diesel, and around €1.30 to a fill of petrol.
Fears were raised in advance of the budget, that border counties will be heavily hit as motorists will go into Northern Ireland for cheaper prices.
