Departments stance over Donegal Education Centre debacle revealed in Seanad

The Department of Education seem to be shirking responsibility over plans for the relocation of the Donegal Education Centre from Donegal Town to Letterkenny.

It follows an exchange in the Seanad this afternoon between Minister of State for Further and Higher Education Marian Harkin and Labour Senator Nessa Cosgrove.

The Department say that various stakeholders were adequately consulted before any decision was made.

Furthermore, it’s said that those stakeholders both support and encourage the move.

It’s also claimed that the committee have been in communication with staff members over the plans since November 2023.

There have been ongoing calls for the business plan be made available to show the level of consultation that was undertaken.
