Fanny Sophie Shields was the mother of well-known Hollywood actor, Barry Fitzgerald (The Quiet Man) and his brother, Arthur Shields. She was buried in Sligo Cemetery, and local historians are keen to find more about the family link with the area, as Cllr Declan Bree outlines
