As the demand continues to increases for 1, 2 and 3 bedroom Local Authority houses in Kinlough a local Councillor has called for preference to be given to people who have a connection with the local area.
Demand has reached an unprecedented levels in Kinlough in recent times for accommodation in response Cllr Justin Warnock has asked the Housing Department to accelerate the purchase of houses and the turnaround time of the local Authority's own housing stock.
Speaking to Ocean FM Cllr Warnock says the situation where charity agencies can place people in houses in Kinlough from outside the area while local residents are facing the prospect of becoming homeless is not ideal:
