Calls have been made for more forestry harvesters to be introduced into rural areas, to assist with the removal of fallen trees.
The call has been made by Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny, who has called on the government to deploy foresters in order to assist ESB employees in restoring electricity in homes, farms and businesses.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, the Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Agriculture said the process of restoring power in rural areas across the region is made much more difficult due to electricity lines being situated in forests.
The Sinn Fein TD says people in this region are suffering without power and running water and that more harvesters on the ground would speed up the process of restoring power.
