A Donegal based road safety group has welcomed the proposed doubling of penalty points and say disqualified drivers must be prosecuted if they don't surrender their driving license.
Drivers caught speeding or using their mobile phone could face six points after the RSA said emergency legislation should be introduced.
80 people have lost their lives so far this year which is an increase of six compared to this day last year.
