The announcement of a safe road crossing commitment over the N4 in Collooney has been welcomed by the community.
Sligo County Council have issued a response to the Safe Crossing for Collooney Group, stating that they have advertised for tendering for the project for phases 2, 3 and 4 of the Toberbride to Collooney Active Travel Scheme.
The issue has been a bone of contention for some time, as the local cemetery, creche and a number of buisnesses are on one side of the N4, with the rest of the village on the other.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Councillor Thomas Healy, who is also a member of the Safe Crossing for Collooney group, welcomed the news, as currently, there is nowhere for pedestrians to safely cross the N4.
