The Think Before Your Flush campaign has partnered with Sligo and Donegal County Councils to protect Blue Flag beaches and marinas.
The initiative is operated by Clean Coasts in partnership with Uisce Eireann, and aims to highlight the problems caused by flushing sanitary products and other items down the toilet.
Serious blockages in waste water systems then cause sewage overflows, which can pollute rivers, lakes, beaches and coastlines.
