The “Use Your Vote” campaign is in Sligo today to encourage voter turnout ahead of the upcoming European elections.
Organised by the European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland, a number of events are taking place in the town today, including a pop-up information stand outside the Yeats Society, and a poetry evening taking place at 8pm in the Model.
The elections will be taking place on June 7th, with five seats up for grabs in the Midlands-North West constituency.
Fionnuala Croker, head of office at the European Parliament Liaison Office in Ireland, says they want to increase awareness and ensure voters are registered.
