It's hoped that businesses in Sligo will benefit from the O'Connell Street Enhancement Scheme.
The scheme officially opened on Friday and has been described as a first step in the provision of the global public realm strategy for Sligo Town.
The completed project provides improved pedestrian access and mobility for all.
Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Cllr Gerard Mullaney says it leaves O'Connell Street a much more attractive place for everyone:
