There's shock and concern in North Leitrim over the level of maintenance being carried out on the upkeep of social housing in the County.
Independent Councillor Felim Gurn says maintenance is a huge issue and that there is currently a period of 3-4 months in turning stock around from once it becomes vacant until a new tenant can be put in place.
The Manorhamilton based Councillor expressed his surprise that the council have no tradespeople in fulltime positions and must rely on subcontractors to do the maintenance.
He said that there are currently long waiting times to secure the services of such tradesmen.
Cllr Gurn put forward the suggestion that such tradespeople be employed full time by the local authority to help deal with problems and lead to a faster turnaround in our housing stock:
