The U20 Connacht Football Championship was blown wide open last night after two thrilling games in Ballinamore and Tuam.
Champions Sligo were beaten by Galway, in a repeat of last year's final, by 2-16 - 2-12.
Sligo took the advantage in the early stages with a 0-04 - 0-02 lead, and strengthened that lead with a Conor Walsh goal after Galway had initally drawn level.
Galway then scored 1-05 without reply, and saw out the half with a 1-11 -1-06 lead.
The Tribesmen built on that with a further 1-01 in the second half.
Ronan Niland added a goal as Sligo pulled 1-02 back, but couldn't do enough as Galway held on for their second win of the campaign.
Manager Paul Henry spoke to reporter Kevin Egan after the game.
