Sligo began their Allianz Division 3 football league campaign on Sunday with an agonisng one-point loss to Clare at Cusack Park in Ennis, on a final scoreline of 0-9 to 1-5.
Tony McEntee's side finished the game with 13 players after second-half dismissals for Luke Towey and Paul Kilcoyne in separate incidents, yet the battled gamely in search of an equalising score deep in added time.
Sean Carrabine, who had scored Sligo's goal at the start of the second-half, was unlucky to slip as he was about to attempt an equalising free in the eighth minute of added time, which would have earned his side a share of the spoils.
Sligo boss McEntee could not hide his frustration when spoke to reporters after the final whistle.
