Tony McEntee's side led by 1-6 to 0-8 at half-time, thanks to a fine Paddy O'Connor goal - but their route to victory was complicated in the second-half following a red card issued to Nathan Mullen for a high challenge on Down substitute Oisín Savage.
Canice Mulligan's brilliantly worked second-half goal gave the Yeats me renewed hope - but with the extra man - Down managed to claw back the deficit and take the game to extra-time.

Sligo manager Tony McEntee spoke to Ocean FM Sport after the game.
