Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan says the players must move on quickly from Friday night’s win over Drogheda Utd as his team tries to get a result from tomorrow evening’s League of Ireland First Division game against Galway Utd in Ballybofey (kick-off 5.00). With more injuries and suspensions pending in the next couple of weeks is going to really test the small Harps squad according to the Harps boss. “It was really good to get that win over Drogheda and the lads deserve great credit for the way they came back after we went a goal behind. But, we really need to build on that right away as we are at home again tomorrow evening against Galway. But our injury list is growing so it’s really going to stretch our squad over the next few games at least. There will be suspensions coming as well and we’re awaiting news on that. Listen Galway are a full-time outfit and we’ll really be up against it but it’s still a game we need to get something from if we are to stay with the top teams in the Division. Galway got the win in Athlone on Friday night so they will come here looking for the three points as well. They have a lot of fine players like Conor Barry, Alan Murphy, Ryan Connolly, Gary Shanahan and young Conor Layng so it’s going to be a big ask to get something from the game” Horgan said.
The quick turnaround from Friday night means tired bodies and further injuries concerns with Paddy McCourt out while Mark Timlin (hamstring) is extremely doubtful and there is also a concern over Ciaran O’Connor (arm). That’s on top of Gareth Harkin, Adam Duffy and Liam Walsh who have been out long term.
“It would be a big enough challenge to take on Galway with everyone available but we will have to replace Paddy {McCourt] and Mark [Timlin] is really struggling with a hamstring injury. Like Paddy he really shouldn’t have played against Drogheda. Paddy did really well when he came on for the second half against Drogheda but he lasted only over 20 minutes because of that ongoing calf injury. Ciaran O’Connor hurt his arm on Friday night so we’ll have to see how he is tomorrow. Look with all these things we’ll have to wait and see what will be available to us when we meet up at Finn Park in the afternoon.”
