EJ Sligo All-Stars reached a new milestone in Irish basketball on Saturday night, with a 84-79 victory over Irish Guide Dogs Ballincollig of Cork, in their Pat Duffy National Cup quarter-final at the Mercy College gym.
It's the first time the All-Stars have reached the last four of Irish men's basketball top tier national cup competition.
Previous cup successes for the team were in the President's (First Division) Cup.
Here, the All-Stars established an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter against Ballincollig, who were beaten cup finalists in 2023.
The visitors managed to lead by one at the interval - but the All-Stars rallied again in quarters three and four - to eventually see out the game by five points.
The draw for the National Cup semi-finals will be made on Tuesday.
The semi-finals, which will be televised by TG4, will take place in January.
