There were mixed fortunes for the north west Universities in Wednesday night's Sigerson Cup round two matches.
ATU Sligo are still alive and kicking after a 1-14 to 1-13 victory against ATU Galway in Ballinode.
Substitute Dillon Walsh's fine goal for the home side midway through the second half proved to be a key score for the winners against a Galway team who had Dara Walsh, son of former Sligo senior manager Kevin Walsh, in their starting 15.
Walsh (Jnr), who kicked some impressive scores over the hour, had a chance in the dying moments to level the game but his effort was just off-target.
Sligo will now face DCU in round three.
ATU Sligo manager Paul Higgins spoke to reporter Gavin Cawley after the game.
ATU Donegal won't be in the hat - as they were soundly beaten by Maynooth University on a final scoreline of 5-20 to 0-5.
