There was to be no fairytale finish for Ballinamore Sean O'Heslin's women's gaelic footballers in Saturday's All-Ireland intermediate club final at Croke Park as opponents Glanmire of Cork ran out emphatic 5-8 to 1-6 winners.
The Munster champions took control of this game early on and led by 2-7 to 1-2 by the interval - with Aoibheann Flynn, Ballinamore's matchwinner over Steelstown (Derry) in the All-Ireland semi-final, scoring the Leitrim champions goal.
Though Barney Breen's team battled gamely throughout the second-half, there were unable to close the deficit in a meaningful way.
Glanmire's full forward Orlath Roche scored 2-1 as the Cor women ran out convincing 14-point winners.
