Brave Sligo fall just short in rugby play-off

Sligo's hopes of promotion from Division 2B of the men's Energia All-Ireland League were ended on Saturday in a 16-14 loss to UL Bohemians in the promotion/relegation semi-final, played at Annacotty in Co Limerick.

It was a gutsy display from Sligo who pushed their more vaunted opponents all the way to the final whistle.

Tries from Kuba and Callum Goddard gave Paddy Pearson's side hope in this game.

They trailed 13-7 at the interval - with Goddard touching down in that opening half.

UL Bohs were restricted to a solitary penalty in the second-half which came late in the game - and ultimately proved to be the matchwinning score.

Earlier in the half, Kuba powered over for Sligo's second try, which put the visitors in front for a spell.

Despite ferocious Sligo pressure in the closing stages, UL Bohs held on for a narrow win to progress to the play-off final.
