Busy weekend of club championship action ahead in Sligo and Leitrim

Round three of the Leitrim club championships gets underway this evening; while the club championship action also throws-in in Sligo this weekend.

In Leitrim, the heavyweight clash of the champions gets things underway this weekend, as reigning senior champions Aughawillan face reigning intermediate champions Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s in Cloone at 8.30pm.

Tomorrow there is a senior double-header at Pairc Sean, as Dromahair take on St Mary’s and Melvin Gaels face Allen Gaels.

Glencar/Manorhamilton will look to make it three wins from three when they face Bornacoola in Drumshanbo, while Mohill face Gortmettragh and Annaduff face Drumreilly.

In the intermediate grade, Ballinaglera and Aughnasheelin also clash in Drumshanbo tomorrow, while Glenfarne/Kiltyclogher play Cloone in Ballinammore on Sunday, the same day as Drumkeerin face Aughavas in Pairc Sean.

The Junior A teams from Glencar/Manor, Drumkeerin and Melvin Gaels are also in round two action on Sunday.

In Sligo, Markievicz Park hosts a senior double-header tomorrow as Coolera/Strandhill face St Molaise Gaels and holders Tourlestrane take on Drumcliffe/Rosses Point.

Gaels midfielder Cathal Burns says that his side are determined to be competitive at the senior grade…

Markievicz also hosts Sunday’s meeting of St Mary’s and Eastern Harps.

But the big game of the weekend could be in Bunninadden, as south Sligo rivals Tubbercurry and Curry go head to head tomorrow evening.

Tubber were winners as recently as 2014, and reached this year’s league final.

In the intermediate championship this weekend, St Michael’s play Shamrock Gaels, Geevagh take on Easkey and St John’s play Enniscrone/Kilglass on Saturday, while Castleconnor take on Bunninadden on Sunday.
