Carbury maintain their grip at the top of The Great Southern Hotel Sligo, Super League with a powerful display against Aughanagh Celtic at Sean Fallon Park Cranmore Sligo. Aughanagh Celtic scored first with a fine effort from Dermot Beggan and Stephen Craig added a seconded for the visitors. But Carbury replied with Christopher Kelly and leading scorer Dylan Edwards each scoring twice with a goal apiece from Ibrahim Savage, Lee Marshall and Daniel Smith wrapping up all three points for Carbury.
Strand Celtic welcomed Ballymote Celtic to the sea side in a high scoring encounter that seen Ballymote Celtic take all three points thanks to the odd goal in seven. Donagh Oates showed he has lost nothing of his goal poaching skills bagging two goals for Strand with Ryan Mc Manus notching the third. Ballymote replies courtesy of the hit man Mark Irwin with two fine goals and a goal each from Adam Cunnane and Conor Meehan captured all three points to give them a very healthy mid table position. Strand despite this loss are third in the table.
St John’s and Glenview Stars also played out a high scoring encounter and the Institute of Technology Sligo and in the end shared the points in an eight-goal thriller. The Big Gino O Boyle game Stars the lead and Clive Brennan added a second for Stars to leave them leading by two goals to nil at half time. St John’s were now under pressure ut they responded well with Malachy Spratt pulling a goal back two minutes into the second half and Stephen Armstrong equalised three minutes later. Stars again came back and took the lead when Ronan O Grady netted and again St John’s responded with Malachy Spratt adding his second goal three goals apiece and still more to come. Darren Brennan fired St John’s ahead and it looked all over for Stars but up stepped the Big Man Gino O Boyle with a twenty-five-yard free kick that he rocketed into the St John’s net for a glorious equaliser. What a game and St John’s could have won it but Malachy Spratt who had a superb game sent his penalty kick over the bar however in the end a draw was a great outcome for both sides who played great football.
Ballygawley Celtic lead the way in The Andrew Mullen Sligo Pallets Premier with a battling performance against neighbours Arrow Harps at the Astro in Cleveragh. Arrow Harps took the fight to Ballygawley Celtic and were two goals up in the early exchanges with strikes from Colin Harte and Daniel Willis Ballygawley Celtic came back with a goal each from Peter Murray and James Mackey only for Daniel Willis to put Harps ahead again at the interval. Ballygawley Celtic emerged for the second half with more intent and up the gears with Ray Colburn equalising on seventy minutes and then up stepped Paul Flanagan to net the winner for the leaders Ballygawley Celtic.
The Cleary Landscapes & Pitch Maintenance Division One
Brandon Fitzgerald scored the only goal for the Villa who were hit for five by Real Tubber Aaron Murtagh scoring twice with a goal each from Fabio Cretaro, Peter Wynne and Gerard Perry firing Real Tubber back to the top of the leader board.
