Cartron United moved eight points clear at the top of Sligo-Leitrim's Southern Hotel Super League on Saturday night with a comprehensive 5-1 win against Ballisodare United at Ray MacSharry Park.
Two goals from the league's top scorer Malachy Spratt, plus one each from Donal Gallagher, John Harte and Jake Hargadon sealed the points for Cartron.
Conor White was the Ballisodare goalscorer on the night.
With four games to go, they are eight points ahead of second-placed Carbury FC.
Last season's champions do have two games in hand and the top two have to play each other before the end of the season.
Carbury are on FAI Junior Cup duty in Dublin this weekend.
Strand Celtic, in third, hit MCR for nine goals at the Showgrounds in the night's other Super League game, to close to within one point of second-placed Carbury in the table.
