North Sligo Athletic club's Christopher O'Donnell set a new personal best for the men's 400 metres in Madrid on Saturday when finishing second at the World Athletics Continental Tour event.
O'Donnell's time of 45.26 seconds is a new Connacht record - and the second fastest time ever over 400 metres by a male Irish athlete.
Only Irish record holder David Gillick has run quicker.

O'Donnell's run comes just days after the Loughborough University student ran a season's best time (45.91secs) when finishing second in another Continental Tour meeting in the Czech Republic.
