Monkstown's  Colin O’Sullivan was second with Germany’s Jennifer Sräga finished in third place, one shot further back and was the leading female in the tournament.

Gaynor felt the nerves coming down the last, but he showed his class throughout the tournament to come out on top.

“It’s great, nice to get it done, it was a nervy one there finishing off, but great to get it done. Obviously delighted with the win. Nice to come out on top this week, my home event, so it’s obviously one that I wanted to win, and nice to get the job done in the end."

The County Sligo golfer has become the first Irish person to win the event in it's second year and looks forward to watching the event grow over the next few years.

“It’s brilliant, it’s only the second one obviously as we all know, so it’s nice to actually be the first Irish player to win it. It’s nice that my name will always be on the trophy. But the event is only going to get bigger and better as the years go on. So, it’s great to see so many here this week, and long may it continue as it gets bigger and better.”
