Connacht GAA says it's open to the possibility of moving this year's Connacht senior football final to Croke Park.
The Irish Daily Mail reports that the Dublin venue offers a 'social'distancing' capacity in excess of 20,000 for a potential provincial decider, something which none of the GAA stadia in Connacht would be able to do.
Intercounty championship football and hurling are not scheduled to start until mid-October.
On the basis that spectators at venues will have to be seated (no standing), the capacity of provincial grounds, while maintaining the two-metre social distancing rule, would be severely restricted.
Provincial Councils are still finalising dates and logistics around their championship games, but taking the Connacht final to Croker is one possibility being considered by Connacht GAA Secretary John Prenty.
There is a precedent for moving provincial finals to GAA headquarters.
The Ulster football final was played at Croke Park for three consecutive yards in the noughties (2004-2006)
The 2005 drawn Ulster final between Armagh and Tyrone at Croke Park drew an attendance of 65,000.
