Sligo boxer Dean Clancy is celebrating the biggest win of his senior amateur career to date after winning the IABA national elite 57kg (featherweight) title on Friday night, with a split-decision victory against the holder Patrick Adamus of Drimnagh.

It was an impressive display by the 18-year-old who trains out of the Sean McDermott boxing club in Manorhamilton. The club organised a supporters bus to the National Stadium in Dublin for the fight, so Dean had plenty of support ringside.
