Organisers of the Delma Cavanagh Limerick to Leitrim Cycle have cancelled this year's event.
The decision was taken in keeping with the HSE Covid-19 guidelines.
The cycle began in 2013 when John Cavanagh first cycled to Limerick from Leitrim to raise money for a Limerick hospice in memory of his mother, Delma.
He and six others decided to cycle from Dromahair, to Limerick, where he is originally from, raising €3,800 in the process.
However, the current government restrictions mean the event can't go ahead on the roads.
Organisers are planning to stage a virtual cycle in the coming months with a fundraising page to help raise much needed funds for this worthwhile charity. Details will be announced at a later date.
The provisional dates for the 2021 Delma Cavanagh Limerick to Leitrim Cycle have been announced.
They are August 13th & 14th, 2021.
