There was a disappointing start to the national leagues for the footballers of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal yesterday.
Declan Bonner’s Donegal pushed Kerry all the way in Killarney before losing out by a point, 2-18 to 3-14.

Sligo suffered a 2-17 to 0-9 defeat to Armagh in the Athletic Grounds.
And Leitrim lost out to Antrim by 0-15 to 0-5 in Belfast.

There was better news for Fermanagh after Rory Gallagher’s side beat Wexford by 3-7 to 2-5.
In hurling, Donegal lost out to Mayo in Ballina, while Leitrim beat Sligo in Tourlestrane.
