There was disappointment for Finn Valley athlete Mark English on the opening day of the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Belgrade, in the first round heats of the men's 800 metres.
English finished fifth in his heat, clocking a time of 1min 51.35secs.
His time wasn't fast enough to progress to the final.
Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the race, English, who works as.a doctor by day, revealed that his preparations for the championships were far from ideal after recently contracting Covid-19.
As @markenglish_ tells @DavidGillick, after contracting Covid in run-up to #WorldIndoorChamps, he was always likely to be up against it in his 800m heat #rtesport pic.twitter.com/FDzCGKigiM

English plans to be back in action on Sunday with the men's 4x400 metres relay team.
The relay squad also includes North Sligo Athletic Club's Chris O'Donnell.
