Donegal beat Armagh to ensure Division 1 survival

Kilcar's Paddy McBrearty kicked the last score of the game to edge Donegal to victory over Ulster Chamionship opponents Armagh - and ensure the county's survival in Division 1 for another season, as Donegal ran out victors by 1-14 to 1-3 in Letterkenny on Sunday.

Tempers spilled over at the final whistle with skirmishes breaking out across the field.

The counties are due to meet again in an Ulster quarter-final in Ballybofey on April 24th.

Donegal's lead was precarious at times during the second-half.

Michael Murphy blasted a penalty wide and, buoyed by that, Armagh got back on level terms.

But McBrearty held his nerve in the dying seconds to fire over the game's matchwinning score with what was effectively the last kick of the game.

Donegal finish third in Division 1 on seven points.

Results elsewhere saw Mayo beat Kildare to qualify for a league final against Kerry.
