Donegal, Leitrim & Sligo to get €1 million each from JP McManus

JP McManus is making a €1 million donation to every county in Ireland for investment in Gaelic games across all codes.

County boards are yet to receive official confirmation of the windfall, but reports on Thursday afternoon indicated a major contribution from the Limerick billionaire is imminent.

The money to each county is to be shared between the various gaelic games codes: GAA, LGFA Camogie etc.

The financial donation was confirmed by Croke Park in a statement on Thursday afternoon.

GAA Statement
The GAA would like to acknowledge and thank JP McManus, his wife Noreen, and their children for their incredible generosity on the news today that they
are donating €1m to all 32 counties for distribution to clubs across the Gaelic Games family.

Uachtarán CLG Larry McCarthy and Ard Stiúrthóir CLG Tom Ryan said: “We would like to place on record our sincere gratitude to JP McManus and his family for yet another remarkable gesture of support.

"Clubs across the island benefitted greatly from the generosity of JP and his family in 2018, and we know that the funds were put to very good use at the time.

"His support of the GAA at many levels is well documented and our units will once again rejoice in the generosity of the McManus family and use the funds to assist in their hugely important work at the heart of communities.”

This is not the first time that McManus has made a financial donation to GAA counties.

In 2018, he gave €100,000 to every county board in a similar gesture, following Limerick hurlers All-Ireland victory.

News of this latest pay-out will come as a massive boost to cash-strapped county boards around the country.
