Donegal's Kate Keaney helps USA qualify for U17 World Cup

Former Donegal gaelic footballer and backroom team member of the FAI women's senior international soccer team, Kate Keaney, was a member of the management support staff to the USA women's under-17 soccer team, who secured qualification on Sunday night for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Keaney, a native of Drumenny in Donegal Town, recently began a new role as Sports Scientist with the United States Women's Soccer Federation - and has been working with the country's under-17 squad.

They beat Mexico 2-1 in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic on Sunday night to win the 2022 Concacaf Championship final.

The result means the USA have now qualified for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in India in October.
