There were impressive runs by South Sligo Athletic Club's Francis Donoghue and Enniscronne's Darragh Mulrooney (Moy Valley AC) at Sunday's Connacht senior and even age group cross country championships in Drumshanbo.
Donoghue won the boys under-16 race while Mulrooney was first home in the boys under-18 race over 6000 metres on a challenge course.
The Enniscrone athletem who will now compete at the national cross country championships in Donegal later this month, spoke to Ocean FM Sport's PJ Leddy after his win.
Elsewhere, North Sligo Athletic club won the girls U16 team event on Sunday - while Sligo AC's Laura Hunter won a fine silver medal in the girls under-12 race.
In the senior men's race, another Sligo AC runner, Finlay Daly, also won silver.
The 2022 National Senior Cross Country Championships will be staged at Rosapenna Golf Resort in Donegal on Sunday, November 20th.
