There was disappointment for Drumcliffe/Rosses Point women's gaelic footballers in Sunday's Connacht LGFA junior club football final in Ballyhaunis, as they lost out to Salthill Knocknacarra of Galway on a final scoreline of 2-17 to 1-11.
On the day, the Galway champions were deserving winners with forwards Lauren O'Donnell and Laura Kelly ensuring the Sligo side had their hands full defensively for much of the hour.
Salthill lead by 1-10 to 1-6 at the interval (DRP's goal coming from Sinead Regan) and had extended that lead to eight points at one stage in the second-half.
But Drumcliffe/Rosses Point rallied well for a spell with full forward Keela Scanlon scoring two fine points to help her side close to within four points going into the final quarter.
However, Salthill/Knocknacarra kicked on again and Lauren O'Donnell put the icing on the cake on the stroke of full-time with a fortuitous goal to give her side a nine-point winning margin in the end.
