Sligo champions Drumcliffe/Rosses Point reached the final of the Connacht LGFA junior club football championship with an impressive 2-19 to 0-6 semi-final victory over St Croan's of Roscommon on Saturday.
Second-half goals from Rianne Smith and Sinead Regan helped propel the north Sligo club into their first provincial decider for 13 years, in a game the winners largely controlled over the course of the hour.
Tommy Oates side established a 0-12 to 0-3 interval lead with midfielder Caoimhe Connor and Smith supplying three points a-piece.
The Drumcliffe team included two Sligo Rovers academy players, Katie Maguire and Keena Scanlon, and both girls struck the St Croan's woodwork in search of goals during the second half.
Reaching the Connacht final will rekindle memories of 2009 for Drumcliffe/Rosses Point when they won a first-ever Connacht title and reached the All-Ireland junior club final that season.
Three players, Aisling Ewing, Orlaith Furey and Avril Clancy from the 09 team are still involved today, as is team coach Barry O'Sullivan.
DRP will face Salthill-Knocknacarra of Galway in the Connacht final next Sunday (Nov 6th) after they needed extra-time to beat Leitrim champions St Mary's in Saturday's other semi-final.
Team captain Michelle McNamara and Sinead Regan spoke to Ocean FM Sport's Austin O'Callaghan after Saturday's win.
