Easkey GAA mourns passing of Brendan McGrath

Easkey GAA mourns passing of Brendan McGrath

The death has been announced of Easkey GAA player and coach, Brendan McGrath.

 

He was synonymous with the club, making his senior debut in 1998 and was in his 27th year of playing adult football, scoring 4 points in the Sea Blues’ victory over Geevagh on Friday.

Titles at under 16, minor, under 21 as well at All-Ireland Vocational were just some of the silverware won by Mr McGrath during his stellar playing career.

 

He also played a central part in the club’s three Sligo intermediate titles, captaining the team in 2010 and was part the Sligo team that won the All-Ireland junior championship in 2010.

The late Mr McGrath also lend his hand at coaching with the club’s under 7 and under 9 teams as well as carrying out works at Easkey’s home grounds.

 

He is survived by his wife Dayna, sons Finn and Tadgh.
