The Davis's Restaurant & Yeats Tavern Sligo senior hurling championship for 2024 began on Saturday evening with victories for defending champions Easkey and Western Gaels in Group 1 of the competition.
This year's Sligo senior hurling championship comprises seven clubs - divided into two groups.

In Saturday's Group 1 matches, the holders Easkey recorded a 24-point win at home to Tourlestrane - while up the road at Quigabar, Western Gaels proved too strong for senior championship newcomers St Molaise Gaels with a 5-18 to 0-6.
Group 2 begins next weekend.
The top two clubs from each group at the end of the round-robin phase will qualify for county semi-finals.
