Easkey's run in this year's All-Ireland junior club hurling championship ended at Duggan Park in Ballinalsoe on Sunday afternoon as they lost out to the Kilkenny and Leinster champions St Lachtain's, on a final scoreline of 3-15 to 0-13.
The concession of two early goals in the opening three minutes signalled early on that this might not be the Sea Blues day as they fell 2-2 to 0-1 behind early.
However, the Sligo men dusted themselves down and came roaring back into the game, closing the gap to a single point at one stage in the opening half, with Andy Kilcullen scoring seven first-half points.
Lachtain's led 2-7 to 0-9 at half-time - but the expected rally from Easkey never really materialised as they were restricted to just four second-half scores, with their opponents running out 11-point winners in the end.
St Lachtain's now get ready to face Russell Rovers (Cork) in the All-Ireland junior final on January 11th at Croke Park.
