Donegal's Mark English qualified for the semi-finals of the men's 800 metres at the World Athletic Athletics Championships in Oregon by running his second-fastest ever time for the distance in Thursday mornings heat.
The Letterkenny man finished fourth in a blanket finish, in a time of 1:44.76, the second fastest time ever by an Irishman, behind his own national record of 1:44.71.

Meanwhile, North Sligo's Chris O'Donnell finished seventh in his semi-final of the men's 400 metres in a time of 46:01 secs, which wasn't quick enough to make to the final.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, O'Donnell was happy with his performances at the Championships but accepted that it was probably one race too many in such a short space of time between his individual and relay commitments this week.

Rhasidat Adeleke has ran her 2nd fastest 400m this season clocking 50.87 in her women's emi final.
The 19-year-old just missed out on a place in the final after coming fourth in her semi.
