Donegal defender Eoghan Ban Gallagher says that going to Australia for trials with AFL club the Brisbane Lions was a great experience.
The Killybegs man and Cloughaneely’s Jason McGee both spent a couple of weeks down under following Donegal’s exit from this year’s All-Ireland race at the hands of Galway.
Both returned in time for their club’s final group games in the championship last weekend; with Gallagher helping the Fisherman secure top spot in their group thanks to a win over Naomh Muire.
Next up for Killybegs is a quarter-final tie against Naomh Conaill, and Gallagher, who was the joint-captain of the Donegal U21 team that claimed the Ulster title this season, says he was delighted to experience the lifestyle of a full-time professional athlete for a couple of weeks…
