It was very much a fairytale success at Fairyhouse yesterday for Luke McAteer as the Donegal native won his first race under rules from as many tries when he guided the Jim Bolger-trained Pirolo home in front in the Jogforjockies.ie Apprentice Handicap.
The 17-year-old proved his worth by holding off a host of challengers before passing the winning line in first place.
McAteer had ridden 30 pony race winners.
His mother, Caroline, was very proud…
