Fermanagh GAA not running Cúl Camps

Fermanagh GAA has confirmed it won't be organising any Cúl Camps this summer in the Erne County.

In a statement published on its website on Thursday, Fermanagh GAA said: "Following a consultation process with all relevant stakeholders in the county relating to the running of the 2020 Cúl Camps, the management committee of Fermanagh GAA have decided not to organise Cúl Camps this summer.

This has been an extremely tough decision to make but considering fairness and the safety of all concerned we feel this is the right decision."

The Erne County's decision follows that of Leitrim GAA which decided not to organise Cúl Camps this year, given the Covid pandemic. However, individual clubs in Leitrim are still free to organise and run their own Cúl Camps.

Most clubs in Sligo, as it stands, running Cúl Camps.

Ocean FM Sport understands that five of Donegal's 38 clubs are preparing the run the camps this year - but more clubs in the county may yet opt to run the week-long camps.

The Kellogg's GAA Cúl Camps, for girls and boys aged 6-13 years, are hugely popular each year. However, some clubs have expressed concern about their ability to run the camps safely given the current Covid regulations coupled with big numbers of children the camps attract.
