The GAA has confirmed that gaelic football's Tailteann Cup semi-finals will go ahead as planned next Sunday in Croke Park.
The Association's Central Council meet on Sunday evening to consider a proposal to swap the tailteann double-bill with Saturday's All-Ireland hurling quarter-finals at GAA headquarters.
Wexford, who are scheduled to play Clare on Saturday, had requested the move as the county is host the All-Ireland hurling and camogie feile the same day.
While a majority of Central Council delegates voted in favour of moving the hurling semi-finals to Sunday, the vote did not get the required 60% majority to pass - so the hurling quarter-finals stay on Saturday at planned with the Tailteann Cup semi-finals going ahead as originally scheduled next Sunday, June 23rd.
It's understood 47 delegates attended Sunday evening's meeting.
27 voted in favour of swapping the fixtures - with 20 voting against.
GAA President Jarlath Burns revealed that Sligo GAA had canvassed hard on Sunday to ensure that the football semi-finals remained in their Sunday slot, prior to the vote.
Sligo football manager Tony McEntee told reporters on Sunday that the credibility of the Tailteann Cup wouldl be damaged if Central Council decided to flip next weekend's semi-finals with the All-Ireland hurling quarter-finals from Sunday afternoon back to Saturday.
