The GAA has put Croke Park on standby as an alternative venue for both of this weekend's All-Ireland senior club football semi-finals, should weather conditions in Cavan or Newbridge become an issue.
Both semi-finals, which were postponed last weekend because of weather concerns, have been re-arranged for Kingspan Breffni (Cavan) and St Conleth's Park (Newbridge) this Saturday.
As things stand, Coolera/Strandhill's last four meeting with Dublin champions Cuala is going ahead in Cavan at 5pm.
The second semi between Tyrone's Errigal Ciarán and Dr Crokes of Kerry was originally fixed for Portlaoise.
However, a Wednesday pitch inspection at O'Moore Park prompted the game to be switched to Newbridge.
Should either semi-final venue deteriorate over the next 24 hours, Croke Park is reportedly being lined up to host one or both of the games.
However, independent.ie reported on Thursday that a GAA spokesperson said Croke Park was not an option, despite reports that stewards had been notified that it could be used.
The stadium is already due to host three All-Ireland finals on Sunday; the intermediate football and hurling deciders and the Junior hurling final between St Lachtain’s of Kilkenny and Cork’s Russell Rovers.
Playing five matches in one weekend would increase risk of damage to the pitch, just a week out from the All-Ireland senior hurling and football finals.
The GAA is determined to get both football semi-finals played this weekend - as the All-Ireland final is scheduled for HQ on Sunday week, January 19th
Coolera/Strandhill's semi-final with Cuala will be broadcast live this Saturday on Ocean FM Sport from 5pm - in association with Kilcawley Construction.
